Now I don’t mind paying the necessary taxes, but where is the line drawn? Obama will have to tax everybody more in order to pay for all his programs. Higher taxes hurts the economy, it does not help the economy.
Here is McCain’s new radio ad, I think it is right on!
Obama wants redistribution short term goals with taxes. McCain wants economic incentives and long term goals with taxes. Now it was nice to get the stimulus checks, but that was a short term goal, that small check does not help in the long run.
Do you wonder where all the jobs are? Well, if we stopped taxing companies so much, they would be able to hire more people. “20 years ago, the U.S. led the world in cutting the corporate tax rate to make our economy more conducive to job creation,” noted Tax Foundation President Scott Hodge at the CompeteUSA kickoff. “Since then, almost every other industrialized country has cut its corporate tax while the United States has stood still, and as a result, the U.S. corporate tax rate is now 50% higher than the OECD average”(taxfoundation.org ).
If you want to keep more of your hard earned money then vote for McCain!
“Senator Obama provides tax relief directly to individuals, without making major changes in how the tax system interacts with or affects individual and business decision making,” explained Carroll. “Senator McCain provides broad tax relief and channels most of it to businesses, with the notion that the best way to help workers is to encourage investment and ensure that the U.S. remains competitive in the global marketplace”(taxfoundation.org ).
More than 100 College Presidents want to talk about lowering the drinking age of the United States back to 18 years old. At 18 years old you are an adult. You can fight in wars and die for your country, get married, vote, sign legal contracts, and be sentenced to death. You are seen as an adult in every way, but you are not an adult when it comes to buying a drink.
Well, 100 College Presidents want to debate the drinking age topic again. They want to help more college students be safe when drinking and to educate them. Students are forced to dangerously drink in private. Drinking in bars is expensive and students are in a controlled setting. Students may not drink as much if they were allowed to drink in bars.
The United States is the only country with the highest drinking age in the world. We need to look at how others solve their drinking problems and act similar. And yes, alcohol related driving accidents has declined over the years, but that is not a reason to deny 18 year olds their rights. Automobiles are dangerous. So many people die in cell phone related, fatigue, and just plain accidents everyday.
“Young people are over-represented in driving accidents involving alcohol. In a recent year, people aged 16 to 24 were involved in 28 percent of all alcohol-related driving accidents, although they make up only 14% of the U.S. population. Young people are also over-represented in drinking driver injuries and deaths. Even when their blood alcohol contents (BACs) are not high, young drinkers are involved in driving accidents at higher rates than older drivers with similar BACs”(postdam.edu ).
Alcohol does not actually kill brain cells like we think. In fact alcohol has actually been shown to help memory and it also helps blood vessels and stroke prevention. “Some of the best studies, done in Italy, show a bottle of wine a night can reduce the risk of dementia in old age, News.com.au quoted Professor Bartlett, as saying. Research also suggests we have an inbuilt repair kit, replenishing more than 100 billion cells in our brain every day of our lives”(medindia.net )
Educate students about alcohol and give them their full rights and freedoms of an adult. What do you all think? Should 18 year olds be continuously denied their freedoms?
I watched some clips on Obama’s and McCain’s speech with Rick Warren on Saturday. McCain’s answers were great and I feel that McCain really is the best choice for America during our time of war.
It is pretty amazing that Obama’s campaign said McCain cheated. That just goes to prove that they think McCain did a better job than Obama too. The fact is Obama cannot speak very well when he does not have a script.
I also cannot believe Obama’s answer on when a baby gets human rights. He said, “…whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity … is above my pay grade”(blogs.reuters.com). He is running for President of the United States! That is the top job! We want to know his opinion on issues and he did not answer. Obama is for abortions, just look at his past record.
“Earlier this decade, such living, breathing, babies who survived labor were “shelved” - left to die and disposed of with other medical waste, or were “aborted” - killed outside the womb. The practice was ultimately banned by unanimous Congressional votes, as even the most pro-abortion Senate Democrats - including every defender of partial-birth abortion - recognized that killing these breathing babies is no longer abortion in any real sense. It crosses the line; it is infanticide. Yet, incredibly, Obama repeatedly worked to deny these living babies any right to life.
Jill Stanek, an Illinois nurse, testified in the US Congress in 2000 and 2001 - and before Obama’s Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee - about how induced labor abortions were handled at her hospital, relating this story: “One night, a nursing co-worker was taking an aborted Down syndrome baby who was born alive to our Soiled Utility Room because his parents did not want to hold him, and she did not have the time to hold him. I couldn’t bear the thought of this suffering child lying alone in a Soiled Utility Room, so I cradled and rocked him for the 45 minutes that he lived.” Powerful stuff. Obama, however, was reportedly “unfazed” by her testimony”(jpost.com ).
Amazing that Obama is for partial birth abortion. The baby is alive and they kill it. Now I am actually for abortions. I am not saying I would ever do it. But it is up to the woman to choose. I believe in freedoms and choice. I am for extremely early abortions. And if abortions were made illegal, women would still have them performed illegally or perform them on themselves and perhaps die because of it. However, I am not for partial birth abortion and I do not want to encourage abortions either.
Here is the continuation post of McCain’s plans to help fix the high cost of health care.
Medicare and Medicaid will be reform so money is not spent medical errors and mismanagement. States options with Medicaid and coordinated payments and Medicare with private insurance.
McCain also wants a liability reform. People should have the right to legalities to bad medical practice, but not to frivolous lawsuits against the doctors. All of these frivolous lawsuits is one of the reasons that health care costs so much, which I talked about in another post.
McCain will confront the problem of people who need long-term care, through state-based programs such as PACE that will offer counseling service and care to people who in a home arrangement.
Those with pre-existing conditions do not have to worry either, because not only did McCain support an Act that provided some protection against denial of pre-existing conditions, but you will build protection against the cost of pre-existing conditions as long as you are employed and insured. McCain will work to find solutions and easily accessible care for those with pre-existing conditions.
McCain will offer people more choices and help increase industry competition, which will help lower the cost. People will be able to buy from any insurance company across state lines. McCain is offering people more freedoms with their health care and does force anybody to have it.
The problem with the ever increasing health care cost is not an easy problem to solve. Check out my other post on a few reasons for the high price of health care.
We all want quality health care, the best that we can get. I have written some posts about universal heath care here . The debate over universal health care will be a long one and there are some advantages, but also some strong disadvantages.
McCain is proposing many ideas that look promising to lower costs. McCain believes that health care should be available to all and that the people should have control over their health care money and care.
McCain will offer more choices besides an employer-based health care insurance. There will be the option for a refundable tax credit of $2,500 for individuals and $5,000 for families to help pay for the cost of insurance.
A portable insurance plan is in the works. You will not have to worry about moving from job to job, this plan follows you.
Americans with incomes below a certain level will have access to a Guaranteed Access Plan, which is state sponsored. A non-profit corporation would also help those that are not covered by pooling with other states.
McCain will help drugs to be more affordable by pushing generic drugs to emerge quicker. He will also bring a more competitive market through re-importation of safe drugs.
In McCain’s plans more federal research will occur to help cure chronic diseases. “By emphasizing prevention, early intervention, healthy habits, new treatment models, new public health infrastructure and the use of information technology, we can reduce health care costs”(JohnMcCain.com).
Coordinate care will be promoted. A single bill will be paid for diseases and it will make providers accountable to the needs of the patient.
McCain also wants great access to health care, such as walk-in clinics. I am all about convenience, as I am sure most of us busy Americans are too.
Stay tuned for more on John McCain’s Health Care plan.
Did you hear President Saakashvili of Georgia and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice speak today? Georgia’s President really put Russia in its place. It was a very strong emotional speech.
President Saakashvili called Russia, “21st century barbarians” and they want to destroy everything that is modern and nice (cnn.com).
Rice said, ‘That the world needs to help Georgia maintain sovereignty”(fox.news ).
Georgia signed the cease-fire agreement. Russia has not signed it and we are waiting to see if they will and get out of Georgia. Russia does not like democracy and freedoms.
The U.S. has also reached an agreement yesterday with Poland on missiles defense pact. Poland is a part of NATO and part of our protection. President Bush has said, that it is to protect Poland from nations like Iran. Russia is infuriated with this missile defense pact of course.
Russia wants their power and may try to take over other nations. All this makes me wonder if Russia would team up with Iran too, that would be a very scary thing.
If Obama is a Christian he is deeply misguided. He constantly mocks the bible and people who “cling to their bibles.” What Christian would even say such a thing?
Obama also distorts the bible and takes pieces out of context, while saying we do the same thing.
Watch this video from his 2006 speech on religion. You can read the full speech here .
And why does Obama keep bringing up religion if he thinks it divides people and should not be in the government? While religion does divide people. There are those that belief in one religion and those that do not. In our majority Christian nation, America still is a Christian nation around 70%, you have the freedom to believe in whatever religion or no religion you choose. Try going to many Muslim nations and believe in a different religion and find out what happens. What does Obama want to do this country and religion?
Obama says he is a Christian, because the majority of Americans want a President to be of a religious faith, he does it for the votes. He also knows that many of the great past Presidents used religion in their speeches, that is why he incorporates religion into his speeches.
While people’s hands and feet are being cut off for stealing, the U.N. are still talking about terms and political correctness. While Israelis cafes and school buses are being blown up, the U.N. is still thinking that their attacks were done by self-determined people and are legitimate.
“The Arab Terrorism Convention and the Terrorism Convention of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) define terrorism to exclude armed struggle for liberation and self-determination. This claim purports to exclude blowing up certain civilians from the reach of international law and organizations”(eyeonun.com).
The 9/11 attacked killed thousands of civilians and the recent attack of Georgia killing hundreds and maybe thousands of civilians may not be a case of terrorism in the eyes of many of the U.N. They see it as one man’s terrorism and another’s man Freedom Fighters.
“Since September 28, 2001 the CTC has never named a single terrorist, terrorist organization or state sponsor of terrorism”(eyeonun.com ). Terrorism is occurring more and more and the U.N. is allowing it by legitimizing it.
On Monday Nancy Pelosi said on Larry King Live, that she may want to vote on drilling for oil as long as other alternative energy amendments are included. Pelosi was not real clear on what she wants the energy bill to contain.
And she still wants to commit the drastic mistake along with Obama and go into our energy oil reserves, which I wrote about in a past post . How much does she want to tax the oil companies too? Taxing oil companies will cause the price of oil to go up!
Drilling and searching for alternative energy sources was the plan when she left for recess. Why didn’t she vote before she left, because she really does not care about the American people. She thinks that gas prices are not high enough and would prefer to wait as long as possible or really not do anything at all. Why hasn’t she call back Congress to vote yet, perhaps she wasn’t serious, she just wanted to quiet everybody down.
We need to drill, while we search for alternative energy sources. It is critical for our safety to be independent of foreign oil, especially because of Russia recent attacks against Georgia. Sign the drill here drill now petition right now.
We live in a very scary world. We could be attacked and bombed anytime. Russia has attacked Democratic Georgia. All the politicians are urging Russia to cease-fire. Georgia has agreed to a cease-fire, but Russia will NOT agree.
Leaders of many countries want to wipe out other countries. They want more power and land or they just do not like other people. Appeasing these madmen is not the answer.
Russia’s attacks will change its’ future relations with the rest of the world. Russia is sending a message to the United States, that they are back and strong and will not stand for Democracy and Freedom.
We need to think long and hard about who we vote into be Commander in Chief. Obama did not even blame Russia in his first statement on August 8th, he appeared very weak, while McCain had authority.
“Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory,” McCain said in a statement to reporters shortly after his campaign plane landed in Iowa(cnn.com ).
In a statement sent to reporters, Barack Obama called for an end to the violence, but stopped short of assigning blame, or making strong demands on Moscow. “I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict,” he said(cnn.com ).We need a Commander in Chief who is strong in foreign policy, we need McCain, in this time of war.
