Obama Understood the Power of Church!
When Barack Obama worked with black churches as a community organizer in his twenties he understood “the power of African-American religious tradition to spur social change.”
Barack Obama understood the power. He understood the power of the black churches and the quest to change America and racism and civil rights. He also understood the power of being religious and the amount of votes that would come in from other religious people. Listen to this speech from 2006, Barack Obama said, “the single biggest “gap” in party affiliation among white Americans today is not between men and women, or those who reside in so-called Red States and those who reside in Blue, but between those who attend church regularly and those who don’t.” Barack Obama went on to say, “More fundamentally, the discomfort of some progressives with any hint of religion has often prevented us from effectively addressing issues in moral terms.” So he is telling progressives and democrats that they have to get into religion in order to get more votes.
So Barack Obama pretty much joined the Trinity United Church of Christ to get more votes. And he did it in his 20s, how could he not be thinking about his political career at that time? He saw the power that church could do to change people!
How does Obama want to change us?
