You know who I want in office when the "evildoers" come to get us? The smartest guy possible. The guy who shows that he has the temperament and requisite clear head to be able to deal with a crisis, not just give a knee-jerk reaction and get us all killed. John McCain has been a decent soldier(if you don't count his complete inability to fly a plane), but soldiers are only capable of taking orders, and he proves every day that he is unfit to lead.
