Day without a Gay

Published by allykat at 7:47 am under America Edit This

Today is the Day without a Gay, many gays around the country are not going to work today, because they are still angry about Prop 8. They want everybody to know what it feels like for gays to not be around, apparently.

No one is telling gays to go away. We do not care what you do, but do not try to take the marriage title away. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Why do they want this label so badly? They can choose to have a civil union if they want. Or make up some other label, like life partner union.

How come these gays that are protesting are not protesting how gays are treated in other countries, where they get killed just for being gay? There are a lot bigger things to worry about. I think we live in a pretty free society and more gays need to be happy about being an American.

The people have voted and that is the end of it.

Do you know where else gay people have been killed just for being gay? The U.S.A. And Canada. And the U.K. Pretty much every country in the so called “developed” world. Do you understand how prevalent the bigotry, hatred and unfairness is in your own country? To think that gays and lesbians should be satisfied with the current situation and level of acceptance clearly indicates that you have no clear understanding of what it is like.

I definitely respect your right to disagree with gay marriage, but don’t sugar coat the reality of how certain members of your society are treated.

Would you be happy with a “civil union” between you and someone you love while another group of people has the full rights to the word “marriage”? This is a clear cut example of separate but equal. This is the tyranny of the majority putting down the minority. This is the civil rights issue of the 21st century and the sooner you people realize that, the sooner we’ll give you the slightest amount of respect.

Day without a gay sounds like a brilliant idea to me! How about they make it a week? or even a month?? It doesnt affect my industry at all so who even cares? Go be gay at home or whatever. Stay home and have a L word and Will and Grace marathon.
