Define Conservatism?

Published by allykat at 8:48 pm under America Edit This

What is your definition of Conservatism?

Conservatism to me, is true freedoms for everybody, lower taxes, and small government. Upholding the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights so that every person can have their God given rights, of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Conservatism is believing in the power of the people. We cannot let a Government become a tyranny. Conservatism is believing in individuality, self-reliance, and personal responsibility. We should not look towards the Government, but ourselves for help. Conservatism is about helping each other by the heart, not by force.

What do you think being a Conservative means?

Conservatism is clinging to long-refuted ideas that only gain traction when someone asks angrily, “What would Ronald Reagan do?”

you say those are all your values but…. I just don’t see how your party has protected those… at all. I’m not going to get into examples, this argument has gone on before…

I just don’t understand why more conservatives aren’t libertarians.

To me being conservative has more to do with your values than your politics. Your definition is excellent Ally.

True freedoms for everybody? Oh Reeeeeaaaaly? So does your definition of conservatism include freedom for gays to have the same rights as the rest of us? Does it include freedom for atheists and other non-christians not to have christianity rammed down our throats? Typical conservative excuses for hypocrisy in 10… 9… 8…

A conservative is a mugged liberal

    Jason -

Gays have the freedom to be as gay as they want. What exactly is your point? A gay man has the same right to marry as a straight man. They have the right to marry a woman. Gays have the right to go grocery shopping and use public restrooms and the same drinking fountains as us…THIS is NOT a civil rights issue. Get a clue buddy!

Well I guess the excuse for hypocrisy came a little later than I expected, but you guys never disappoint!

Jason - What exactly is your point? Or are you just trying to keep us aware that you are an atheist homosexual? We are now aware………Moving on……..

TJ, my point is that most conservatives are hypocrites and you help me make that point. You make excuses around giving certain people equal rights, and incredibly lame excuses at that. And now you’re calling me gay. Please, keep on showing us that great conservative logic of yours!

Jason- You are the one that has such gay sympathies…AND gays get equal rights! PROVE IT WRONG!

    Jason -
Also I am calling you gay just as you are calling me “conservative”. An assumption in which we are both probably correct.

Tommy boy, I’m incredibly intimidated by your brilliant logic and your all caps demand to prove you wrong. I’m out of my league here. How could I possibly debate somebody who so clearly has all the answers to everything?

I’m sure the real Thomas Jefferson would be thrilled that some guy on the internet is using his name to go around denying people equal rights and making assumptions about people. Internet trolling is definitely right up there in importance with founding a new country based on fundamental freedoms.

Jason - (by the way I hate your name….but only for purely personal reasons)

Okay seriously…Thomas Jefferson Jr would be proud =) LOL Also again Im going to go with the argument that gays DO indeed have equal rights. But you are right about one thing….You are CLEARLY out of your league.
    Thanks and Happy New Year!

Tommy boy, I’m dropping all sarcasm to give you some advice… for the sake of your own dignity, drop that ridiculous argument. One might think that a person who takes their name from one of the founders of our country might at least pretend to try to have a smidgen of intellectual honesty.

But then again if you cared about that sort of thing you wouldn’t be some anonymous pseudonym using troll, would you?
